The 29 Palms desert oasis was created by the San Andreas fault near Joshua Tree National Park. The water was green and alive with pond life. I loved how the palm fronds on the left glowed yellow in the filtered light. While I was painting, two scruffy local dogs came by to say hello and have an afternoon swim. One of the things I love about plein air painting is that you get these glimpses into the secret life of a place.
