FOUNTAIN

I was wandering along the shady pathways of the Camellia gardens when I first saw this fountain beautifully framed by trees and gleaming in the sunshine. There is a much grander view of it from the south, but the intimacy of this first glimpse stayed with me. The fountain is 17th century Italian and was shipped to the Huntington in 1915 in 48 boxes apparently with no assembly instructions!  If you like this painting, you may also like French Park and September Light
